Welcome to my blog! My name is Ashley O'Brien and this is my last semester at San Jose State! I am currently living in Gilroy with my boyfriend, we have been together for over five years and he is truly the best supporter I could ever ask for. Without him in my life the things that I have accomplished and my future accomplishments would likely not be possible. I have a lot on my plate right now and he knows exactly what to say to make things better. I currently work part time, intern for Santa Clara County's ADR (mediation) program, studying for the LSATs and going to school.
During my free time (what little I have) I like to spend a lot of time outside, running or hiking. I recently signed up for a half marathon for the end of October. It's a big goal of mine and I can't wait to accomplish it. Besides running, I enjoy hanging out with my boyfriend and friends. Since my life is so hectic, I really just enjoy relaxing at home, it is nice to have a moment to breath. Since I am graduating this Fall, I will have a semester off from before (hopefully) going to law school! I will spend that break working full time and preparing for life in law school!
As a communications major I have had a lot of great experiences, meeting new people, great professors and being exposed to my current internship. I have learned how to better my communication skills and not be so nervous when speaking in front of people. I used to be a little hesitant when it came to talking to people, but now after so many communication courses I don't think twice when meeting new people or talking to some random person sitting next to me. I have learned that in order to get somewhere, you need to get out there and not be afraid to meet people. Since I am interning for the ADR program, my hope for this class is to better my skills to deal with conflict.
